Antique (>100 years old) Platinum brooch (stamped 850 or 830) set with 14 2-3 mm Persian Turquoise Cabochons on wings.
The detail of the butterfly is amazing: Ruby eyes, antennae, and 4 little legs. Inherited from my Grandmother.
The back has prongs to attach to clothing. The prongs open when pressure is applied to wings. I don’t know the purpose of the safety chain.
This has been in storage for over 60 years. Platinum weight 5 grams. Cannot find any hallmark but my Grandmother (née 1899) grew up in Scotland so presumably made in the U.K.
This was obviously custom-made. UNIQUE!
