Solid resin replica of a juvenile Lambeosaurus skull. A relief cast showing half the skull embedded in rock.
Lambeosaurus was a large crested Hadrosaur from the late Cretaceous. This juvenile skull highlights the function of the crest in sexual selection as it was minimal in juveniles, becoming prominent as the animal matured.
Hadrosaurs were herbivorous generalist feeders thriving on low quality ground vegetation. They evolved the most efficient food chewing mechanism of any animal, using partial cranial kinesis and tooth batteries with hundreds of teeth to extract nutrients from tough foods.
